Vinyl Sustainability Council Welcomes Extruflex as Latest Member
Washington, D.C., November 21, 2023 – The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC), a self-funded business council advancing sustainability in the vinyl industry, is proud to announce its newest member – Extruflex. Extruflex is a world leader in the manufacturing of flexible vinyl strip and sheet products for door and curtain applications. These products are used for area separation, temperature control, energy savings, and to keep pests, dust, and contaminants out of the facility and control environments.
“I’m pleased to welcome Extruflex into our organization,” said Jay Thomas, the Executive Director of the VSC. “Their commitment to sustainable operations and recycling aligns well with the association’s activities. We are looking forward to learning more and working together to advance recycling in the industry.”
Extruflex is working diligently to recycle its own post-industrial product. The company has in place a take-back program for post-industrial PVC materials. Customers are provided with crates to be filled with PVC scrap from their fabrication process. Once those are full, Extruflex picks up the crates and recycles it into new products, reducing the carbon footprint of their production process. When Extruflex’s own post-industrial scrap PVC, or the post-industrial content it receives from the take-back program can’t be reused directly on its premises, the waste is shredded and sent to recycling companies for reworking into new products.
