SIMONA AMERICA Group
SIMONA AMERICA Group is rooted in a commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation. As a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic products, the company has embraced sustainable practices by optimizing its manufacturing processes to reduce waste, increase energy efficiency, and promote the use of recyclable materials. Through the development of eco-friendly solutions and a circular product lifecycle, the company ensures that its operations align with the global movement toward reducing environmental impact and fostering long-term sustainability.
Revamped Recycling
SIMONA AMERICA is transforming its approach to manufacturing and material use with the opening of a new on-site recycling center at the Newcomerstown, OH, production location. The facility will be exclusively focused on PVC recycling, one of the largest vinyl components SIMONA produces. In addition to reducing the cost of hauling recyclable materials to a third-party recycler, the facility will help to lower production costs, lower energy consumption, and ease the demand for fossil fuels.
Since 2019, SIMONA AMERICA has reduced material loss by more than 14% and recycled more than 500,000 pounds of scrap through its scrap recycling programs.
Nearing Net Zero
SIMONA AMERICA Group is aiming for net zero emissions by 2050. Tracking emissions for scopes 1,2,3, SIMONA AMERICA is reducing emissions by 5.25% by 2030. Focusing on renewable energy, SIMONA has incorporated solar panels across facilities, which accounts for 14% of energy consumption. SIMONA AMERICA is also focused on using renewable materials to create more circular efficiencies within the material production process as well as implementing water conservation and transitioning to LED lighting fixtures.
Community Engagement
SIMONA AMERICA participates in a cleanup trail initiative. The Lackawanna Heritage Trail is a hiking trail that stretches seventy miles. It connects more than 30 communities as it weaves through 4 counties. Its foundation set out to unite members of the community to promote action through preservation and development of the area’s history, heritage, and environment. The Lackawanna Heritage Trail clean-up exemplifies SIMONA’s commitment not only to the environment but also to the community at which we operate in to ensure that it continues to thrive for generations to come.
The group also participates in the Theresa Borgia Memorial 5K, which commemorates a local community member’s battle with breast cancer, but also her advocacy for breast cancer awareness during her life. It is a way to celebrate the life of the SIMONA family and advocate for the future of the community to promote wellness and cancer research.
