Achilles USA Becomes the Vinyl Sustainability Council’s Newest Member

Washington, D.C. – March 7, 2023 – The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC), a self-funded business council advancing sustainability in the vinyl industry, is pleased to welcome Achilles USA as the council’s newest member. VSC membership is reserved for organizations taking a leadership role to advance sustainability throughout the vinyl industry.

“Achilles brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the VSC when it comes to manufacturing, recovering, and recycling vinyl films,” said Jay Thomas, executive director of the Vinyl Sustainability Council. “We look forward to collaborating with them on a variety of sustainability efforts, including those involving increasing the volume of post-consumer recycle vinyl materials.”

Achilles USA is the North American manufacturing subsidiary of Achilles Corporation, a worldwide conglomerate of plastic film manufacturing. Located in Everett, Washington, their manufacturing plant calenders, extrudes, laminates, and slits polyvinyl chloride (PVC), cast polypropylene (CPP), and olefin films. Achilles recycles in-house scrap and buys back pre-consumer film from select customers. They use recycled material in both same-product and alternate-product applications. Achilles’ products include up to 50% pre-consumer recycled content by weight.

“The VSC gives us an operational framework for our sustainability efforts and a forum to collaborate with others on industry issues,” said Wes Wangerin, innovation and sustainability engineer for Achilles USA. “We are particularly looking forward to participating in the taskforce groups, especially those involving recycling efforts.”

For almost 50 years, Achilles USA has been committed to safety, quality, service, and innovation. Loyal to their customers, their suppliers, and their employees, their motto and reputation have been firmly built on this commitment and the continuous effort to improve both their company and community.
